Just this morning a friend described the stories that get the attention of her mind and heart as “love letters to being human.” That strikes me as a wonderful way to see the stories one loves to read and, for some, to write. It certainly works for me on both counts. I want to thank her publicly for a turn of phrase that captures an essence of storytelling. It is what I strive for.
I’d like to hear from readers and writers alike about whether that description rings a bell. What stories, long or short, do something like that for you? What way do you describe what it feels like to fall in love with a story?
